We've got Yammer fever at National Technologies right now. It's a strong contender for first place among our favourite Office 365 collaboration tools, and we think it might be what pushes Office 365 over the edge as the number one cloud service for businesses.
We've got Yammer fever at National Technologies right now. It's a strong contender for first place among our favourite Office 365 collaboration tools, and we think it might be what pushes Office 365 over the edge as the number one cloud service for businesses.
Here are three reasons we love Yammer:
Transparency
Relocating the flow of information to the shared digital space of Yammer means greater transparency, as the content that might have previously been trapped in emails becomes accessible to all employees. Yammer creates a culture of openness within an organisation which is essential for creating a good work environment.
At NTG, our team members post daily updates of what they're working on to the company feed. These reminders of the work happening across the organisation keep us all in the know, and give us a sense of working together in a virtual office, despite the distances that often keep us from meeting in the real one.
Unrestricted Communication
Yammer breaks down the boundaries and organisational systems that can cut off communication between different levels of a company. Without the distinguishing marks of rank, all employees have to opportunity to contribute equally to the conversation in a more relaxed setting. Yammer gives team members a voice where they might not have had one before.
For some of the larger enterprises we work with at NTG, this is a game-changer. For companies that have in excess of 50-100 employees, communication can be difficult between departments or locations, and for information to reach from the lower tiers to upper management, there can be hoops upon hoops to navigate. Yammer gives businesses a neutral space for these team conversations to take place, opening up important new channels of communication.
Crowd-Sourcing
Having conversations happening in view of everyone can open up the way for unexpected moments of collaboration. Not only can ideas come from any level of the company, but departments are able to crowd-source from other teams and offices in the organisation.
With staff members from all sorts of backgrounds in our office, from the creative to the technical, Yammer means we can pool our knowledge. Teamwork happens in more organic ways as ideas are workshopped in the company feed. Simply putting out a call for help means we'll be flooded with suggestions from engineers, marketers and managers without even calling a meeting. Collaboration in action!
We're so in love with Yammer, we want our clients to experience it too. If you'd like support with implementing Yammer and Office 365 in your office, drop us an email. We'd love to help.
