Cisco estimates that 50 billion devices could be connected to the Internet by 2020; while Michael Nelson, former director at IBM, has speculated that the figure could be up ot 100 billion. Considering the projected 2020 world population is 7.6 billion people, that's an estimate of at least 6 connected devices per person.
